چکیده
In this study, we examined the effect of light intensity on colony development regulation in Lasius japonicus Santschi. Queens were collected soon after their nuptial flight Okayama, Japan. They reared under 16L-8D(16 h light, 8 dark)and 12L-12D at 25°C with four conditions: 50, 200, 800, and 3000 lux. The queens started oviposition collection. Thereafter, larvae, pupae, workers emerged 50–800 lux conditions; however, hatching larval suppressed conditions, especially long-day photoperiod. Light was also measured shelters where found flight. Under shelters, median intensities between 2.4 1070.5 lux, which low enough for to develop colonies. These results suggest that start founding places intensity. likely control rate by responding surrounding environment.
